Taylor Swift. Generally, Swift and Swifties are something I choose to ignore. Finding neither brings enough to my life to justify the loss of peace. However, recently, Swift has been behaving more like Elon Musk, and that is what I want to talk about today.

Taylor Swift owns a private jet. She used debt. She owned two private jets, but she did sell one of them. She flies in her jet a lot and she lends it out to other people in Hollywood to fly in her jet a lot.

And recently, she decided to threaten a lawsuit against college student Jack Sweeney, because Jack Sweeney operated social media accounts where he shared publicly available information about the flights of her jets. Let's break this down. Every single jet in the air in the United States broadcasts its location through its automatic dependent surveillance broadcast or ADS-B system. This information can be captured with a cheap radio, and various tools allow people to share the information they are receiving on their radios, making real time tracking of these jets possible.

Jack Sweeney previously tussled with Elon Musk because Musk accused him of sharing assassination coordinates for sharing details of Elon's jet flights.

The conflagration with Elon eventually involved Sweeney being banned from Musk's free speech platform, and Musk threatened multiple lawsuits against this college student. I was vocal at the time criticizing Elon for trying to silence his critics by using his wealth, power, and the legal system. And I stand by that.

This is true from the most plebian. Kleeb to the president of the United States. Everyone's assassination coordinates are being shared and the billionaires have resources to actually mitigate those potential harms. SWIFT In an attempt to be as much of an asshole as Musk has now also threatened lawsuits against Jack Sweeney. And the cease and desist letter from her lawyers specifically claims this is unlawful behavior, that sharing the information that her jet is already broadcasting at all times is unlawful, and they further claim that this is harassment and that Taylor will pursue any and all legal remedies available to her.

I will say simply and unequivocally that this is awful for Taylor to do. Swift should not use her position of wealth, influence, and power to threaten people for sharing already public information about her. I do not intend to downplay the fact that Taylor regularly receives threats, but that does not justify attempting to silence people. It does not justify threatening lawsuits for sharing public information, trying to use the legal system as a cudgel to silence your critics is wrong.
