Donald Trump is a liar. This is probably your first time hearing about his tendency towards untruth, but it's true. He has sometimes exaggerated, forgotten, misrepresented, or invented stories, people, statistics, policies, and friends. Recently, he invented an endorsement from someone richer than he is. Taylor Swift, perhaps driven by his jealousy of the eras tour as his own crowds have shrunk.

Trump took to his failing social media network, Truth Social, to share some AI generated and satire images, as well as a couple others which purport to show Taylor Swift encouraging people to vote for Trump. There was also a few pictures of Swifties for Trump, which, as far as I can gather, is like a dozen really sad people. To these images, Trump said.

I accept. But again, we must emphasize that Taylor Swift has not endorsed Donald Trump. Frankly, this increases the chance she ends up endorsing Kamala Harris in a very public way, which, frankly, was already pretty inevitable following the 2020 endorsement of the Biden-Harris ticket by Taylor Swift.

Now, Trump probably really does wish Swifties would turn towards him. He's always been a big fan of her, tweeting in 2012 that Taylor is terrific when she was given the opportunity to host the Grammys. For her part, Taylor has described Donald as stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism, emphasizing that Trump's love is unrequited. Why did Donald feel the need to lie about this?

Well, one. Maybe he is literally too stupid to know it's not true. Two. He wants it to be true and doesn't care whether or not it's true. Three. He thought it would be funny. None of those seem like particularly good reasons. But hey, he's not a particularly good person.
Remember JD tried to say that Trump is really funny and likes to make jokes. Maybe, but to me, its just pathetic. It surely isn’t the way to expand his base.
